Start looking at school for kids in band and quire, talk to them find out what there intrested in. some will have guitars and other stuff. out of all of them you might find 2 or 3 that fit into your dream, take it from there. Most of all PRACTICE togather JAM dont get discouraged when some wont stick it out. Let them go and others will take there place. It takes time Dont forget MONEY, When I was your age I worked at odd jobs for money to buy strings and picks If you run into someone that wants to borrow from everyone else, stop him cold and let him know that he or she must pay there own way. KEEP IT FUNN!

Answer:Wait 3 years.
Seriously the best thing to do is post a notice on your bulletin board at school,you never know you may find several in your age group wanting the same thing.Also most music stores have bulletin boards for musicians looking for work or forming groups.You could also use local social internet forums.Just word of mouth or pass along the message to Facebook friends if you're on it can get the word out.Forming a band is lots of hard work and can be very trying and boring at times if you are determined to be good because it often means going over the same song several times in a row to get it just right.I started my first band at 15 and that came about while walking down the street one day. I came upon a couple of guys jamming in their back garden,I stopped and chatted and found that they were into the same music as I was and the rest is rock history lol.You'll no doubt have to start small by playing at friend's and neighbourhood parties but as you progress-and if you're any good-you'll get bigger and better paying venues.

You could always just play with the other kid that plays guitar. Just jam, you know? Practice, just hang out. If you don't know the kid well, try to make friends with him... don't get in to anything you don't want to just because "ya' wanna be in a band." I know of a lot of kids who were like "yeah, I wanna hang out with these kids... oh, ok, they're doing this... alright, I'll do it too." I'm not saying that the kid in question is a druggie or anything, 'cause obviously, I don't know him. Just, be careful.

Try posting on bulletin boards.
See if your guitar shop has a bulletin board or local add paper for local bands needing a guitarist.
See if any school band members are interested.
Go to open jam sessions and meet different people.
You could even try on- line colaberations.

Just remember what you want to do in a band.

I was 10? and I just picked out 3 of my friends and taught them how to play. Drums two guitars and singer. It took a few weeks but we had a few songs by the time we played for our 4th grade music class. No sweat. It was real easy music- one note stuff. I just decided : "I will HAVE a band" The band didn't last long becuase kids that young have other things they like to do like break their arm and stuff like that. Plus I was like a Nazi with them and they probubly didn't like that. "YOU VILL LEARN ZEE SONG AND LIKE EET!!!!

Try everything, but be patient. At 12, your a little ahead of the curve, chances are your peers (that is, the kids around you that will end up playing music) will take up their instruments in the next few years, and then take a year or so to learn enough and season enough to play in a band situation.

If you're a natural, this can be a very frustrating time. You'll find yourself asking yourself "why can't they just do it? Why don't they get it?" It's not their fault, they're just normal.

You may actually want to have more than one project going. Try approaching some older kids, you'll find that if they are serious they'll be willing to have you sit in. If they're just partying with Rock and Roll instruments around them they might just give you a hard time, but that's a party, not a band. If you find some older kids that are trying to understand their instruments like you are, the age barrier will not even be an issue.

Then, with the experience you have with that project, you can more successfully guide the younger members of you band. 'Cause, hey, when I was trying to have a band in High School (at 16, not even 12) I had to teach someone how to play the bass every couple weeks. That gets a little old. A couple years later, at age 18, I joined a band with guys in their early 20's, just 4-5 years older than me. That was so much more comfortable!! I should have sought out the older crowd in the first place.

Lesson Learned: When your looking for musical peers, age should not enter into the equation.

Trust me you are not the only one in your school that plays guitar, one way I have seen some kids learn about others musiacal aspirations at my school is on half days they bring their guitars. It takes about 15 minutes for someone to go hey I play guitar let me see how that (insert long name of guitar never just a shortend one; ie 1996 Fender Jagstang by Kurt Cobain insted of just Jagstang, I guess to show knowledge of guitars) plays.
I am 15 and if your school let's you bring your guitar on half days or a fun day take it, especially if you have an acoustic, heck might even get yourself a GF playing Wonderwall by Oasis as you look into her eyes (or epicly fail in front of 6 or 7 people becuase it sounds like a cat being ran over or a school bus fire) . Nothing more fun than making a new friend that has the same interests as you.

I feel like Mel Brooks as the 2000 Year Old Man..."In my day we didn't have guitars. We banged one rock against another and tuned 'em by getting bigger or smaller rocks."

Or the classic:
"You got it easy. I had to walk 10 miles to school, uphill both ways, in the snow, no matter whether it was winter or summer, barefoot, with nothing but a hot potato to keep me warm in the morning. On the way home we just froze."

Actually, you would be a good example of who I was talking about. Just a few years older than him but on the same page. I'm afraid I lost my point my earlier example.

When you're Twelve (at least, when I was twelve) a Fifteen Year Old is quite a bit older than you. Approaching guys that much older can be a little intimidating.

Im on the same page becuase i have about the mental capacity of a 10 year old . Also it is alot easier to find something in common with someone when you start out with one thing in common. I myself can't play guitar to save my soul (i have tried...I no longer have a soul <--He got it) I am not afraid of going up and talking to someone becuase I am kind of outgoing but you may be different.
