O.K.In short terms,Kid plays guitar by him self.For the past few years he's been thinking the backing tracks in his head.He is tired of thinking a fake band in his head and want's a real band to play,record,hangout with.He doesn't know how to find the people that can play and WANT to play with him.He is relying on YOU to help him.

My first band was my neighbor that played guitar and another friend with half a drum set and me. Got any friends or neighbors? It's a lot easier hooking up with friends and classmates then trying to find people you don't know and may live too far away to make it work. Another option is finding school programs to join and meet like minded kids.

At your age...just find a couple of friends that play music and have some jam sessions. Playing with a band or even just jamming with other musicians is the best way to improve your skills. If you're already a good guitarist then playing some small solo gigs if you can find them is a good way to find like-minded musicians.

I have friends but no neighbors.Or at least kid neighbors.Theres only one kid I know at school that can play anything and he plays guitar wich is good but I still need bass and drums.Or at least bass and I could use my keybord for drums.

If you take lessons, mention it to your teacher whom I'm sure can start hooking you up with other students of around your age and where you're at, playing wise. If you don't take lessons, go into your local music store (not a "mega-store") and speak to the person behind the counter. Said person will most likely ask you your age and where you're at, playing wise. In other words, how good are you? Be truthful. Leave a sure way to get in contact with you. He or she will then mention it to others who are where your at, age and playing wise. Any music store I was ever affiliated with was happy to do this. As a matter of fact, I've cheerfully done this countless times over the years. Lastly, mention to your friends at school and/or where you hang out that you're looking to put something together and do they know anyone whom you could hook up with or do they know someone who may know someone. Its all about networking. Oh, and don't be a pest about it or obnoxious among those you ask. Simply ask respectfully every couple of weeks or so, "Any word?" With luck, it might not even take this long.

I don't want to sound too negative but when I was about 12 I was dying to be in a band. I had it all planned out, this friend would learn to play bass, that friend would learn to play drums and we'd jam. Well, it didn't really work out that way at all. I ended up joining various church bands from the time I was 14-17, and I learned a lot from that and met other musicians. I also just jammed with whoever I could whenever I could. Sometimes I'd go six months with no band and no jam in the early stages. I just kept playing by myself and doing what I could. I got lessons, which helped me a lot, and I also wrote a ton of songs. Just instrumental songs, I didn't really know what I was doing. But that's how I learned about writing so it was still really important.

Around the time I hit 16 I started hitting as many open mic jams as I could, and I've met lots of other musicians that way. I get calls for gigs sometimes because of the contacts I make there. I eventually got picked up by an alternative rock band about a year ago and that's where I stand now although I'm more of a blues player. It just takes time to find the right people. Just keep at it, and jump at every chance you get to play. In the long run it'll pay off.

remember 4 things:
1) your drummer and bassist need to work well together. the guitarists can be as rthythm-deaf as they want, so long as they have a solid base (bass) to rely on
2) you will need to like the person you're playing with. take Gn'R- 5 brilliant songwriters but not 5 brilliant friends
3) you will need somewhere to practice. perhaps a music room at school you can consistently use or a garadge. remember, if you play too loudly next door may invite the police to jam along with you
4) if you live in Gloucestershire, UK then i may be albe to hook you up with someone

1. rehearsal/practice space - try to find a drummer or other player that has this if you don't.

2. sound system - try to find someone that already has this.

Those might be the 2 hardest parts?

Next, spread the word at school, local music teachers, other bands, etc.

You'll find lots of drummers in the school band--and everyone of them REALLY wants to be the drummer in a rock band.

You'll probably find a few bass players in the school orchestra--and they all probably want to play bass guitar. Also, some guitar players may want to play bass. A bass pack can be had for less than $150.

All you need then is a mike and someone who can carry a tune....

Don't know where you're located, but there appear to be a few places in the LA area that will actually form groups of young folks such as yourself, and provide lessons on playing together as a band.

1) ask around if you know other musicians they may know some pretty good people to fill in the gaps;

2) experiment with them if there is no chemistry at first don't worry just try to find the problem;

3) make sure you like the same music but make sure that they don't change their mind easily (cause they could like punk for example one day and like metal the next) and that they know what they are doing and what they talk about;

4) make sure none of your members are dating (in rare cases it happens) it'll be the death of your band;

5) good luck and don't make the same mistakes i made cause now i'm in a band where i was in charge but now we're in hell cause one bass player decided he wants to take charge cause he likes metal
