Hi,

i just picked up my new jaguar special hh, black one, japanese made. i'm amazed with guitar but noticed one weird thing. when i checked serial number on fender page, it says it's of course japanese made but also that it is made between 1995-1996(!). how is this possible? my guitar is brand new and as far as i know this particular piece is quite newer product.

any experience?

Serial # or clear pics of the back of the headstock would help here. Did you buy the guitar through a private seller or an authorized Fender dealer?

it's is from authorised fender dealer here in europe. number is U010207. by fender code list it's japanese made ("made in japan" not "crafted...") but 1995-1996. i think is impossible... quite frustrating.

Fender Japan restarted thier serial numbers all over again. I got this information from another post but couldn't find or remember who on here told me that...and of course that is going to throw the proverbial monkey wrench into dating by serial numbers only
