Hello all.

Just wanted to share my excitement that I found out today that I made my high school talent show that I auditioned for over a week ago. This will be my first talent show but not my first performance, so I don't have that first time rush I've seen mentioned here anymore. :? Still, I'm physced! 8)

very cool. my band won a high school talent show when we were freshmen. we beat a few bands that were much older and a few of their members weren't even in school. i'll never forget that. for some reason girls noticed me after that gig.
what are you going to do if i might ask?

For my audition I played Eruption, but for the show I want to do a medley of Van Halen solos culminating in Eruption. Maybe start Eruption, go somewhere else, and return for the tapping section of Eruption?

Cool story. I'm a freshman myself. :)

Hey one other thing.

I'm probably going to use my Kramer, but I've seen people using Strats. I'll be playing through a Hot Rod Deluxe III and a DS-1. What would you guys recommend for guitar?

I would say you should always use the one you feel gets the job done the best. If you feel like the Kramer sounds and feels best for it, then don't fight it.

Another thing!

I'm planning on performing a medley, and so far I have the Hot for Teacher intro leading straight into the opening power chord of Eruption, but I'd like to add one more song/solo. I'm thinking maybe opening with a dramaticized version of the Humans Being chorus solo?

Any suggestions?

Hmm, maybe, seems like it'd be difficult to learn in time (the show's in a week and rehearsals start on Monday) and not the kind of thing that really gets people excited. It's possible, thanks for the input. It is nice cuz you don't need other instruments for it to be recognizable.

Just a note here since talent shows are mentioned and auditions. Our band has the #1 teenage band in the US opening for us. They won the talent contest for the US. Right now they are in Frankfort Germany competeing for the best teenage band in the World. The are called Pilegro. We know their parents. The parents are involved big time. The kids like it when the parents aren't around so they can goof off and cuss and stuff. Ha! They seem like nice young guys. Reminds me of way back- only thing is that these guys are pretty darn good. My bands sucked when I was a teen ager up untill about 18-- then it was time to rock!!!

We had our firsy rehearsal last night. I'm the only one doing any sort of solo guitar, everyone else is doing some pop song or something. There is one other metal band. We get along well. :)
