If the price is right, go ahead. If the cons end up bugging you too much, you can always sell it; with it being a Gold Certification and somewhat rare, you might even make a little bit on it if you hold out for a couple of years.

The Armadillo hath spoken...

+1

I like the vintage sunburst and everybody has a cherry sunburst...so something a little different.

Its a nice guitar, I would prefer a cherry burst as well. I don't think I could spend that much money at this point in my life, but if you have the means and no regrets, go for it. I haven't found a Gibson that has felt good to me yet. One day maybe but not yet.

Whenever I am in doubt about whether or not to buy a guitar, I ask my wife...

No, no, I'm lying, I just say the heck with it and buy it! If the price is right you should never lose money on it.

I love guitars.

That is a really nice guitar! If that guitar sounds as good as it looks and you can buy it, let us know if you do. :D

My opinion on that guitar:

Other than the certificate, it's a Les Paul. I personally would not pay more money for a guitar just because it has a certificate. The price on ebay is what people are asking, not what people are buying. As for the value of the instrument, if it has been sitting in a warehouse that long that means there isn't much demand. Overall, nice guitar, but IMHO too much money for a Les Paul Standard (Sure it's custom, limited whatever, but in 59 it was the standard so that's what I'm going with >_>).

Would I be correct in the thought that a 59 lp has the deeper neck joint, extending into the pick-up cavity, and would this 2009 be built the same much like the epi: slash sig model representation of a few years ago? I know there are quite a few people here in the forum that would know for shure.
