Sixteen Stone by Bush. Learned every song on that album when I was starting out, my skills are based off of that album

I can't answer this question with just one but I can say that possibly the first was Hendrix' Axis Bold As Love, it still blows me away today.

All depends on which stage of my life you are talking about.
Different "Life Changes" that I can relate to different albums.

Three big ones:

- Oak Ridge Boys, "Fancy Free": They were the concert I ever went to, and this was my favorite album at the time.

- The Beatles, "20 Greatest Hits": I'm surprised that I never wore the tape out... this was probably the first tape that I would listen to on my own for any length of time.

- Nine Inch Nail, "Pretty Hate Machine": This was my driving soundtrack when I first got my license and the first "heavy" music I ever listened to. The stereo in my car was just loud enough to get some good mirror vibrations going on with the stock head unit and speakers.

I couldn,t pick an album that has guided my life in any direction. However Willie Dixon changed my life to the blues in the mid 70,s and Ive never looked back.

Jimi Hendrix - Are You Experienced

+1...Are You Experienced took guitar playing (for me) from hobby to passion the first time I heard it.
Other albums that really affected me over the years have been...

Creedence Clearwater Revival - Gold
Metallica - Ride the Lightning

and more recently...

Black Stone Cherry's first two albums have been a huge influence for me.

As much as I would be inclined to list KISS' Love Gun, because my life was never the same after I got it, the single most important album of my life was Gov't Mule's Dose. Besides absolutely blowing me away, it rekindled the love I had of the blues, Hendrix, Stevie Ray, etc, all of which had sort of taken a backseat and are now the cornerstones of my life (along with many other artists in their vein). Quite simply, I never listened to music in the same way after Dose.

Looking back to my formative years I would say Cream's "Disraeli Gears", also anything by The Beatles, Zep, Stones, Allmans, Jimi, early Sabbath, and "Who's Next", Quicksilver's "Happy Trails" . . . there are just too many. Even the Monkees (I was a Louie Shelton fan before I even knew who he was!).

What was the question again?
