mine must be Taiwanese Artist Chang Hung Liang's 1992 4th solo album
" guts of the race"
it was the first alternative album i bought
before this it was all pop
he writes, arrange, perform and produces all songs
his main instrument is keyboard
it just open my ears to how i listen to music :D

The Rolling Stones "Love You Live", disc 2.

A friend gave me a copy on cassette tape. It was the first time I heard the song "Mannish Boy," (sparking my interest in Muddy Waters, which sparked my interest in blues in general), it rekindled my love of Chuck Berry ("'Round & 'Round") and sparked my love of the Stones.

It's not my favorite live Stones album by a mile (that would be "Get Yer Ya Ya's Out") but it changed my music listening habits forever.

I'd have to say Who's Next by the Who. The song My Wife is probably why i haven't gotten married yet.

The one most important album in my life:

Meaty, Beaty, Big and Bouncy - The Who's original greatest hits LP. (Not an ad for dog food.)

...Hmm. The two most important albums in my life:

1. Meaty, Beaty, Big and Bouncy - The Who
2. Live at Fillmore East - The Allman Brothers

...Er - the three most important albums in my life:

1. Meaty, Beaty, Big and Bouncy - The Who
2. Live at Fillmore East - The Allman Brothers
3. Dire Straits - Dire Straits

...Well, the four most important -

Cheers - C

Got to be Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs...Clapton with confidence in what he was doing and really driven to play his but off by Duane. Seeing this band made me want to play guitar and has lead to a 40 year love affair with a Fender Stratocaster :!:

But I have to call this one a tie...Cream Live Vol II...just listen to Steppin Out if you ever doubt Claptons ability to get in your face and blow away ALL other guitar players :!:

FWIW

I'd have to have a tie between The Beatle's White Album and Jimi's Electric Ladyland. To pick a favourite I'd have to put both names in a bag as both albums had an equal profound effect on me.

KISS- Alive

After hearing that, I knew I wanted to be a guitar player. It was just freaking larger than life to me at the time. I must have been around 5 or 6 years old.

As if there can be only one for most of us :)

"Appetite for Destruction" - Guns 'n Roses
- The album that made me want to play guitar

"Ten" - Pearl Jam
- The first album that felt like it was "mine"

"White Album" - the Beatles
- The first album my dad gave to me.

Great thread...

Cheers,
john

The Division Bell, by Pink Floyd.
And, if one more is allowed, Face The Heat by Scorpions.

Revolver- The Beatles

It's the first music I remember & reminds me of times with my mom.

Dire Straits, The Wall, Dark Side of the Moon.

... right now, I'm listening to Morcheeba. Another great band.

Cheers

David
