A good portion of the White Album was written while the Beatles were studying meditation with him in India. He was a big influence on the hippie movement and psychological movement in the late 60's, early 70's.

well, never heard of him before this point, but i wonder what the lifestyle of that era wold have been like without him/people like and how it would have changed today..... the "flower power" movement seemed pretty influential on the lifestyle of the whole world, although many of the artists i dont particularly enjoy, they still had lasting contribution on music

George Harrison was a follower from the 60's until his death.

Yes, George was a true believer and that seemed to make his life a peaceful one.

I apologize, Norah was Ravi Shankar's daughter.

I think this may be another example of the Maharishi being confused for Ravi Shankar. George and the Maharishi parted company before the Beatles broke up, but George remained a Hindu scholar and practiced transcendental meditation all his life.

The Maharishi was a practitioner of TM, not a Hindu priest..

Yup, you're right. It's all coming back to me now. Ravi was more of a musicial inspiration and the Maharishi was a TM guy. George was a Hindu believer. Even after the Beatles got sick of the Maharishi, TM just continued to grow. It was quite the fad thru the 70's.

No problem on my end, I just enjoy talking with people and I`m not here for a dueling match. We all have the same common interest and its nice to share our thoughts. I made a mistake before and I admit it and would like to leave it at that.
