Well it looks like I may have to move, which means I lose my out of the way spot for my guitar stand. Currently I have a Rockstand that is set on top of a large shelf. The shelf is the top of a closet that is in my entrance, that extends through the floor into the office/bedroom. It is built right into the house, so it fit my guitars perfectly and out of reach of my son for many years. Unfortunaltely I may have to move, so I plan to hang the guitars on the wall for space reasons and busy little hands.
Could someone please recommend a quality wall hanger for electric guitars. I plan on hanging a Squier bass and an acoustic guitar as well.

Thanks,

I don`t know if you have a Sam Ash near you but they sell a few different kinds. They even have ones that look like a skeleton hand. I`m sure you could go on their website and find them.

I use these for my acoustics, because they hang the guitar away from the wall a bit more (to accomodate the deeper body of the guitar). They work fine for the electrics, too:

http://www.google.com/products/catalog?hl=en&safe=off&rlz=1T4TSND_enUS400US400&q=string+swing+guitar+wall+hanger&revid=1456322780&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.&wrapid=tlif130228880675910&um=1&ie=UTF-8&cid=6178007397112499451&sa=X&ei=slmfTa7JH8mWtweyvcCBAw&ved=0CD0Q8gIwAA#

I use these for my electrics (an acoustic will "fit" but it's awfully close to the wall):

http://www.google.com/products/catalog?q=string+swing+guitar+wall+hanger&hl=en&safe=off&rlz=1T4TSND_enUS400US400&prmd=ivns&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.&wrapid=tlif130228900444810&um=1&ie=UTF-8&cid=7112054721538901450&sa=X&ei=elqfTZCMIMSatwfrrrCLAw&ved=0CHEQ8wIwBQ#

They both work great and seem to discourage curious hands (both young and old).

+1 on the String Swing hangers. I've about 20 on the walls in the Music Room.

another vote for the string swing here... i make sure mine are screwed into a stud though... never trusted the plastic shields in the sheetrock.

1 more for the String Sling. I like the wooden ones because they look a little nicer than the metal. Also, they can be pretty easily adjusted to fit whatever headstock; I have a Tele hung up with no issues whatsoever. I think I paid 15 bucks or so for the hanger.

I use the Off The Wall hangers, that I got from Musicians Friend. They are very well built and I used an extra wood plate that I mounted them too then mounted that to the wall stud and I have never had a problem with them loosening at all.

Another vote for the String Swinger's here. I installed 4 a few weeks ago, two vertical hangers and two of the angled hangers. And as mentioned above, don't trust the plastic sheet wall inserts, I've had two pull out before. Always attach the hangers into studs.

Yeah, there's no way I'd trust drywall to hold my guitar up. I buy longer screws than come with the hanger then drill pilot holes, and the screw them into the stud. I could probably hang on it without it falling or even loosening.

I have a few Hercules wall hangers, I haven't had any reason to complain. Solid and very safe, might be worthwhile checking them out. http://www.herculesstands.co.uk/products/85302

String Swing, absolutely and only.

'Screwed an 8' horizontal piece of oil-finish 1x4 Oak sculpted moulding into the studs at hanging height and attached the String Swings to that. #12 screws into the studs, #10 into the oak. Good looks and really solid.

My sister gave me an Apex wall hanger,I haven't installed it yet but it appears sturdy enough.I do have a tip if you want to securely mount your guitars to the wall and don't trust the plastic sheetrock plugs.Get a piece of clear 2X4 or 2X6 and cut it to the required length put whatever finish you like on it and fasten it to the wall with No. 10 screws 3 1/2 to 4" long making sure that every screw goes into a stud. When you have the board securely in place you can install your hangers using the supplied hardware.
