I have an old kramer DMZ 6000 B bass guitar as many of you know.I would like to fully restore it.It has 3 switches one pickup selecter one 3-way toggle and a one 2-way toggle.I really don't know what the other switches did.it had a little 9-volt pre amp.it says DBL-2.please help me figure out what they did.It is a P J setup.I have active EMGs in now the old dimarzio model J that was in seemed to be humbucking.I don't have the model P's to see.

there are a few diagrams at this site... find the one that looks like what you have and hook 'em up.
good luck!

http://www.seymourduncan.com/support/wiring-diagrams/

when posting pics you should shrink them down to 600 X 450 pixels at 72dpi before you upload to whatever site you're using... those pics are really big.

Thank you for trying to help though :D

is that the only pickup on the guitar? i only see one in the photo... unless there's another one either not in the photos or missing.
with 3 pots it's either one vol, 2 tone; or 2 vol, 1 tone, but that only makes sense if there are two pickups - bridge and neck.
a habit i've gotten into (especially with my mustang) is to take digital photos of how things look before i take them apart, that way i can follow the photos backwards when i'm putting things back together.
there are only a few loose wires in the photos, so if you use one of the diagrams for "active" setups that looks like what you have, the pots will do what they're supposed to.
this is the diagram that looks to me to be the closest to what you have... but your photos are not showing the neck pickup(s), and there seems to be 4 wires connected to the output jack instead of 3.

what kind of bass is it anyway?

Here is the bass as it sits now.

Active EMGs are in there now But it is should have Dimarzios. The only switch that is even conected now is the large toggle.I have no idea what the other 2 mini toggles did and that is what I am trying to figure out. The knobs are 2 tone, 2 vol.Sorry about the large pic's.

Yeah, kid, you gotta use smaller pics - it's like looking at a map of the world...

From Google: "I just purchased a circa 1979 Kramer DMZ 6000B 4 string. It's a great looking piece. Walnut body wings with a maple stripe through the middle. Looks alot like an alembic. Active dimarzios with 2 volume and 2 tone controls. Plus 2 coil taps. It Has an Aluminum neck with wood inserts. A guy I know has a Kramer simular to this, and his tone was unbelievable. Anybody else have a review or thought?"

Sounds like your mini-switches were probably the coil-tap controls. I think you just need to Google until you're sick of it to find out how to deal with your wiring issues. Hey, you're young, you've got time, right?

The two mini-switches are for flipping either of the DiMarzios from series to parallel wiring. Google "DiMarzio 4-Conductor Pickup Instructions" and you'll immediately get a DiMarzio PDF link.
