A friend of mine keeps goin on about the emg's and how good they sound in his gibby, but I,am about to build a strat from scratch, body and hardware, have everything lined up, pods, pickguard, even the neck, a srv 2002 missing tuners but like new as the owner went with maple? the ? is I have always really liked the nat ash look and want something a bit like my srv, the strat body is going to be made of select ash, and I have never played but one gibson with these pick ups,not thrilled with them, I now there great for that heavy low tune thing on a gibson, but I have never heard an ash strat with them and I don,t want to get to far away from my texas sp's, but I would think about a try if you folks could give advice on your knowlage with these pickups and weather they will work well with an ash body, srv neck and hardware, hardwear meaning through body hardwear, no trem like a hard tail, or would they be to sharp. thanks alex

Well simply put I would like to have my neck pup blues sound, mid pup blue grass and clear sound, and my bridge an all out distortion low tune kind of deal if I were to go with that sound, right now it,s a really bright tail end! and I know from the forum guys that you can wire tone on bridge po to the mid tone to take some of the sharpness out of it, I would like to get into some dirty southern without giving up the other end.

fender CS69 in the neck, seymour duncan JB jr or lil 59er in the bridge.
i cant help you with the middle bro. right now my main guitar has 69's in neck and middle, and the JB jr in the bridge. im pretty sure i have everything coveredf with that setup except jazz. blues/jazz maybe, but not traditional jazz or swing.

You know how sweet the neck is with texas pup, and the mid is so crisp and clear, but at the bridge I would like to be able to low tune and use the bridge only for that purpose to get down and dirty, and into some southern rock, old school style, right now becuase I play alot of blues I,am always on the neck of it. keep in mind I'am thinkin ash for body, would that be to bright?

ooops i ment the bridge and neck pup sorry. heck i would go ahead a toss in a 69 in the middle too. they are great sounding with clean or overdrive. the 59 or the JBjr
is great from rock or metal. they sound good clean but you will realize that your starving them by doing so. they crave some gritt, some O/D or all out distortion.
this pickup combo cleans up really well by rolling off the volume control. the tone control on these too will do wonders for the tone. so many people dont realize how much the tone control can do with a set of quality pups.
