today is the day we lost Kurt Cobain. I know there are mixed reviews on this musician in the forum here, but today is the day we lost the man who redefined a generation. Now, I'm not going to paint myself black today and remain in a dark corner, but I just want to recognize one of many of my favorite musicians.

Peace Out. Rest In Peace Kurt

Lord, I feel old.

I loved his lyrics and the reckless abandon with which he played...and how he could be deceptively subtle at times.

Kurt wasn't/isn't a huge influence on my playing, but I remember how he "changed the game" entirely when Nevermind came out (and thank goodness, cuz the spandex and big hair crowd had worn out their very thin welcome several years previously for me).

Overall, I liked Nirvana pretty well, I just never tried/wanted to to play like the grungers.

Wow,17 years,it only seems like 7 or 8.Although I wasn't a big fan of Nirvana I did like some of Cobain's songs and his lyrics although dark were,in a lot of cases brilliant. It's tragic the way his life went and the way it ended. One thinks in retrospect if anyone close to him had any inkling of his deep depression and/or saw this coming. The poor guy is at rest now and his tortured soul has gone to a more peaceful place.RIP Kurt.

he was a really talented lyric/poem writter. listen to the lyric's in the song in my name for example. really deep.

as for the band in general, i really like them. alot of people fail to hear the raw emotion in there songs though....

I've never been a Nirvana fan, but they really played a big part in shaping the music scene in the 90's, some ways good, some not so good. RIP Kurt, at least you don't have to hear stupid Courtney Love's voice anymore...
