Four very cool additions to the Fender line of amps Brad. Thank you for the heads up and how did you know that I was looking for one of those? :D

all nice stuff to be sure brad.
my question is when will fender follow the trend and go for the smaller amps and combos
that seem to be the trend these days, or are there no plans for that?
i think they call them lunchbox amps. (nightrain, egnator rebel20, boogie transatlantic)

Another nice addition to the Fender lineup. I'm a big fan of the SuperSonics. And what's not to love about a 100w tube head? I think the 22 would suit my current needs just fine though.

How about that unique bias adjustment circuit with the push buttons and lights? Looks cool, and with something like that anyone can set the bias on their own amp without having to open it up and check with a meter. Of course I would have to open it up and check the actual idle current, and see what the range of adjustment is, to see what exactly is "hot" or "cool". 8)

i dont see why fender made yet another full sized 1/2 stack when the trend is for the smaller lunch box 1/2 stacks. its kinda like during the gas crunch we had a couple yrs ago
dodges answer was to put the hemi in everything while everybody else went hybrid or tried to improve on their already existing hybrids.
(and we see where that got them lol)

The amp has a power reduction switch, to cut it to 25 watts, so you can get that driven sound at lower volume, like a smaller head. I thought that I also read that you can pull two of the output tubes, or maybe it was just that the switch just shuts two of the tubes off. :)

Thank you Fender for coming out with an actual giging amp that will (really) be heard over a drummer and doesn't need to be run into a PA system run by some non-existent sound tech. :)

i think they call them lunchbox amps. (nightrain, egnator rebel20, boogie transatlantic)

I know bugger all about amps but, I reckon Fender have got the "Small Amps" well covered already with the following:

Pro Junior
Blues Junior
65 Princeton Reverb
G-DEC series amps
Vibro Champ XD
Super Champ XD
Champ 600 (Clearly the best small amp on the market today)

Plenty to choose from there. Check 'um out!

Andy

yeah i knew that would pop up. none of those even come close to the egnator twiker,rebel20, rebel30, vox night train, boggie's transalantic, alessandro's beagle, Alien 5, Amp Exchange's mean 13,Mars Amplification's filmosound specialist, Baron snott watt, Bluesland's baby blues,
Bogner mojado, DRz mini Z, Epiphone valve jr, , Hi Watt 7, Orange tiny terror

just to name a few, but the list goes on and on.
im talking small tube amps with killer tones. a lot of these have more function than any 2 of the amps you mentioned andy. fender is getting killed in this market in quality and probably sales as well.

"Champ 600 (Clearly the best small amp on the market today)"
and what brought you to this fact, i dont know.
several of the ones i mentioned above smoke the 600 like a cheap cigar.
dont get me wrong, i like the champion 600, but in all honesty, my pignose will give it a run for its money.

and the ones big hair listed is all that fender has to offer for this market. none of which are really anything to brag about. sure fender is selling them but because of the name fender.
now most of these amps mentioned are sold to kids starting out or low budgeted players.
lets be honest, if money was no object to these folks, would they really pick
a projunior, or a G-dec, or the XD if they were in the market for a smaller tube amp?
probably not most of them. fender R&D is lacking on these amps.
sure they sell, but to kids for the most part. fender has no serious tone monsters in the small tube amp class. NONE. the champ 600 is all they have to offer at this point, and its tone really isnt all that hot. as for mid wattage amps, fender has that covered with lots to offer.

The other thing about small amps is that 6v6's, EL84's and 12AX7s (yes I've seen em used as powervalves), just don't sound like 6L6's, KT's and EL34's.

The small lunchbox amp sound is always going to be different to a backbreakers sound.

I say we should try a single ended EL34/6L6 amp of around 15 watts and put it on a 4x10 cab.

Theres a reason all them audiophiles go for classA EL34's and KT amps. I suspect it's because of next to no distortion.

Boutique amp companies cater (prey) on people that think boutique = tone heaven and that nothing cheaper could possibly sound decent.

expense has nothing to do with it nevin.
andy put the 600 up for best sounding small amp. what do they cost, $150?
i put my pignose up against it any day of the week. $79.00
plus mine as the advantage of open or closed back tones.
i do agree that the boutique guy prices are up there though. i'll give ya that.
thats what im getting at, fender can do much better and bring it to us at an affordable price nevin. i mean look at the small amp peavey just dropped on the market.
the features are amazing for any amp builder, and it sounds killer.
fender can do it, we know they can. killer tones, built well, in a small box, at an affordable price.
