Good luck with your project. Like most everyone else, Ive been wanting to do this myself for a while now, since I had to give up my studio a few years back.
It's finding the space that's a problem but I'll do it as soon as I can.

lol there is a guy on youtube that does his video in the bathroom. i think he likes the slight reverb or something. his amp sets on the throne and he jams out.

Hi Waycool I collect everything from coffee mugs to beer steins and also have some china teacups and a china tea pot dating from the mid to late 19th century.Every time someone I know goes to a different place I ask them to bring me back a mug.So far I have at least a couple of hundred and have run out of storage so I just keep about 100 or so of the most interesting and older ones on display.

I can remember George Martin, the Beatles record producer speaking of them occasionally using small rooms and...'unusual places' for getting the right acoustics for certain passages in songs.

ive heard of the same thing myself. funny how far some folks will go.

slinger,

thats way cool. i have 2 steins, dont know if they are worth anything but.........
some folks have some steins that are worth a fortune.
there is a stein shop in one of the small towns i go flyfishing in.
 some of the prices they are asking is just crazy. $500 plus on some of them.

Keith Richards in his book, "Life" describes the recording sessions for Exile on Main Street, where they were using the basement rooms in his rented villa in the South of France and each member was in a different room. I think Charlie Watts was in the hall way for the best acoustics on his drum kit.

There's also a "Exile on Main St" Bonus DVD on the re-released CD of the same name, that has home movies showing the recording sessions and of more recent interviews with Mick and Charlie talking about the recording done in Mick's house in London where again, members were everywhere. All to get the best sound.

Speaking of Bathrooms...
Bathrooms are usually the best for acoustics with that slight slap-back...

Pete Townsend once wanted to use the Men's Room at Victoria's Station for recording. He thought all the urinals "...provided great resonance."

Tim,I just noticed your signature for the first time-it's a very profound statement-one I'm sure a lot of folks in the middle east and other parts of Africa can identify with now.

I bet they can indeed. I have always felt (and been taught when I was a child) that legal and moral were two very different things. I feel that once the government over steps their boundaries it is our duty as the people to stand against the tyranny...sadly in this country, most of the population just does as they're told.

When youngest daughter moved out a year and a half ago, her room became the music room.

Excellent use of space, gets daily use. All about playing, listening, reading. No recording or such, here. Very tacky "Tiki-Polynesian pop" decour. 'Farking super-love the place.

Best of fortune for your own project.

This evening and tomorrow morning I have to remove all my stereo gear,albums,45s,CDs and tapes etc. and reroute all my speaker and T.V. cables.I also forgot to mention that recently I've started collecting yet something else-1/32 Die-cast vehicle models.I only have 8 so far but that's only after a couple of months and I have a few more on order. I intend to concentrate on classic and vintage cars mostly from the 30s but also will get the odd one from other decades, especially Packards,Duesenburgs,Cadillacs,Kaisers and Studebakers. They should look good on a shelf with my old Corgi and Dinky Die-casts too.
