Hi folks,

I remember there was a certain amount of interest in laminated guitar necks a while back. Now that I'm looking through my projects here on the continent, I immediately thought of the Messrs BigHair and Peckham's own Jedi Knight Ceri to perhaps check out this neck I have here.
Any happy guesses what manufacturer it may be? :) Probably too easy for you all, but hey, let's give it a try!

Here is the culprit:

Have fun, folks, and feel free to all join in! 8)

I think this is a trick question.......it looks like one half of a pair of butter paddles my mum has in the back of her kitchen cupboards........

Nope, sorry, no points going towards Scotland yet! Sorry mate! ;)

BTW, do your mum's butter paddles have beautiful strap fastening devices like this one has?

Keep on guessing!

How intriguing!

If its an acoustic I'd say its a Martin....

....but from what we've seen of the head stock I don't think it is... So more research me thinks.

mmmmm I know that Tiesco had a bit of a penchent for laminating the backs of necks and the heel of the neck in the pic looks very like my bolt on neck on my Kay LP so I wonder if it's something like a Columbus or Kay or Tiesco LP copy along that lines. Saying that the fact the strap fastener is facing the way it is maybe does suggest an acoustic.........aaaargh I don't know!!!!
I'm now thinking of laminating a paddle headstock with butter paddles........

So far we've established no real winners here just yet.

- It's not a Martin
- It's not a Tiesco
- It's not a Columbus (though I'm sure he had at least one paddle)
- It's not a Kay

BUT Mr Big Hair got one thing right: It's an acoustic. Shall we say 25 points for you, Andy? 8)

If I may give a tip: Don't think "American". If you consider other parts of the world, you may get it right. :)

Carry on! This is great fun so far!

Cheers

Nutter

It's a 35 piece neck on a Norlin era Les Paul....
