Cool photo Rhumba! Love that guitar Bro!

Thanks Solid, I thought you might be a Firebird man, or is it a Thunderbird? :D

 Love the both of them! Of late when I visit the GC near me I test drive an old Thunderbird hanging on the back wall through a Fender Rumble and I do enjoy playing with that combination. :D

Yeah, right man, I would like to hear that. Funny, whenever I see a Thunderbird I always think of 'Thunder fingers' Entwistle and the Who. 8)

Yupp ... :D ... Wouldn't be without one. Not being able to play with my 'bird is like not having a Strat or Tele or lungs or ... somethin' like that.

I just got myself a white 2006 Gibson Firebird V 3 weeks ago and I'm blown away by it's sound.
I really love it even though I never liked the feel of Gibsons so far.
I have played LPs and SGs before but I never felt comfortable with them due to neck shapes and the stoptail piece bridges.

The Firebird has a more "fenderish" neck, like a fat C shape rather than the typical fat D.

I was instantly feeling well with the neck but I still miss a string every now and then due to a little farther string spacing and I need to get used to the much higher position of the strings over the body surface but that's minor issues.

I use a very broad guitar strap made from rough leather to compensate for the higher weight of the headstock. A Firebird isn't balanced very well.

What bothers me the most is it's general weight.
After 1 1/2 hours of playing a Firebird, you need a shoulder replacement if you're used to play Fender Strats and light basswood Ibanez bodies only!

To me, it's way more comfortable to play in comparison to LPs or SGs, at least as far as I remember because I recently played LPs from a friend but I never touched an SG again since the early 90s. Maybe adaption comes with mileage, I don't know. Maybe I should check out an SG again :?:

Anyhow, while my Fender Strats are still my favorites, I really love my Firebird like hell! The sound is to die for. I play lots of Bluesrock with it and sometimes some AC/DC covers for the fun of it. I'm thinking about buying a second one (I'm a backup fanatic!).

I still need to take photographs of it (and some others) myself, so I can only show pics of the auction. I'll post original pics and maybe a video later, gotta fully recover first ....

Here you go:

Dang! Photobucket fails! :(
I'll post pics later ....

I had this one on loan for a couple of months. It's a '76, and the guitar that made me realize I like beefy necks.

Actually I was looking for a VII before I bought the V.
The only thing that kept me from doing so was the Vibrola trem on the VII.

I very often heard it doesn't stay in tune very well.
I hardly use trems anyway ...... so I finally decided for a Firebird V.

Optically I prefer the VII! Especially in red with golden PUs *drool*
