Those columns are part of Fender's PA4100 set, which was first released in late '67, coinciding (roughly) with the start of the company's first foray into solid-state amplification. The speakers within each enclosure are each 32Ω CTS alnico's, wired in parallel, with the total load per cab of 8Ω. The mixer/amp itself featured four channels -- each with its own volume, treble, and bass controls. A switchable master effects loop allowed the addition of an outboard reverb or echol device and the power output was 105 watts RMS. While the transistorized guitar amps of this era got a bad rap, the PA system was a real performer. We owned one of these "back in the day" and it always delivered for the four or five years we used it.

thanks Arjay, do you know what was the original price of them at the time...the speakers look alot better made than the head itself...they would have looking better with the PA100 tube heads maybe if they matched the colour with the cabinets or maybe 68 bandmasters ?

A little fuzzy here, but IIRC the complete PA set had an MSRP of $999. But I'm not sure how that broke down for the individual pieces. The drip-edge cosmetics matched the amps of the period -- the tube-fired PA100 (and subsequent PA135) appeared later.

nice to know, the reason why i asked, because i am trying to put them on ebay and get a nice acoustic guitar for what they would bring...but never seen another pair on ebay or anywhere else i don't what to expect ..so i don't want to be put a crazy price on them and my main concern is to pass them to a person or collector that will take care of them, not to a tire kicker kid that will destroy them in two week period..what do you think i should do ? you are right the market is fuzzy , people sometimes put prices out of this world...there is a Fender cab on ebay right now from 1967 or 1968 ( the large cabs ) with the drip edge..and loaded with JBL df 140 in mint condition..he is asking $ 2900 for it...and he is getting numerous offers !!

$250 apiece -- $450 for the pair, tops.

(and no, I won't be bidding on them)

I don't know if you still have those speaker columns, but I would be interested in buying them. I had a garage band in the 60's and we are getting together again and it would be fun to have the coloums. I have the amp. Please let me know.
