Hi Way Cool you can pick up used Vox Valvetronix amps pretty cheap.I paid only $400 for my AD120VTH head which cost $1,200 new and $350 for the 412BN cab(new,I already had several cabs but wanted the Vox stereo cab to match the amp)and $150 for a used $300 VC12 Footcontroller so for $900 I got the full setup for less than the head alone cost. You can pick up 50 and 60W Valvetronix combos for around $250-$300.They also have very convincing amp models and effects especially the modulation effects.

Hey Way Cool, it's not seen as a 'real' one but the Vox 15w pathfinder is a cracking wee amp and when you use it to drive a 4x12 it shouts an sings very nicely. Like I said no tubes but dirt cheap, no modelling an a taster of the big brothers.

I have the Pathfinder 15 R and I must say that it's pretty tube-like in its sound for a S/S amp and the reverb and Tremolo are delicious-great for playing Crimson and Clover and How Soon Is Now.BTW I had my doubts about modelling amps too but when I tried my Valvetronix back to back with my old Fender and Marshalls the likeness blew me away, certainly the best of the modelling amps.

well guys, i have close to two dozen SS amps. some are just small little practice amps. ive played through the valvetronix before. i gotta tell you, if i were to get and keep a modeling amp, that would be it. i do have a line6 and im getting rid of it maybe this weekend. i would much rather have a tube vox. this way i can get that classic vox
tone. i dont currently have anything to give me that brit tone.
ive thought about a radial brit pedal. its pretty close to the tones i have in mind.
