what's wrong with the picture is it got packed away in a trunk sometime during the '70's.
i'm not sure when the transition took place, but during the hayday of artrock the bands were in charge of what they were putting out... jethro tull, yes, elp, stones, beatles, the mothers... and the list goes on.
then the "market" took over. to quote from zappa's tinseltown rebellion "'cause leather groups, and plastic groups, and groups that look real queer... the tinseltown afficianados come to see and not to hear".
the art died, and the "picture" died along with it.

This list should be retitled: 100 randomly assimilated songs from the 80s.

I didn't notice Kate Bush,The Travelling Wilburys,Julian Lennon and only one Smith's song and that wasn't How Soon Is Now which was their blow out song.

thats the clean way of putting it.
it just pizz's me off to see things like this. its idiotic.
how in the heck can people keep putting rap and r&b and hip hop in rock catagories?
i remember several yrs ago they even took awards under rock titles,
AND PEOPLE APPLAUDED for crying out loud. WTF? why the rock community doesnt band together and rise up against this i dont know. it reminds me of the 80's and the PMRC
with dee snider. he hit washington full force for rock n roll, and very few stood with him.
unbelievable. here again rock gets stomped on and nobody is willing to speak up about it.

oh thats an easy one there slinger, their spots were taken up by the likes of,
kool and the gang, Marvin Gaye, and whitney houston.
lets see what would happen if metallic got best R&B sing, or clapton takes the best
soul album of the yr.

Heck, I don't even consider rap and hip hop music let alone Rock :!:

...as for the public accepting this?...doing it like lambs following the Record Company's daily diet of crap they issue out and call music...until all real artists are gone, and only the phony record company/american idol hacks are all that is left! :x :x :x

to steal a line from Arjay...RAWK ON!

...selling advertising is job one - FM Radio is long gone

These day I like listening to the tunes that are brought to me by the Fender ounge "What are you listening to" list (I and II), or the Fender Lounge YouTube list, etc. Mainstream music is drivel. Honestly, I rarely listen to the radio, there are way too many other good and great choices. Lists don't do it for me anymore (except the honey-o list from Mrs. Beaubs  )
