For everyone out there older than 3X7, if you have to ask what it costs, you can't afford it.
Saying that, I like them all and think that the new Japanese models are worth every penny and if
you are a real Bro you'll over-tip the young person that takes it down from the wall for you. 8)

no they dont, what people ask for is what it cost, this country sure as hell aint in the position for someone to be charging this much

So in your opinion, what should one of these models cost?
$500, i know where i can get a '69 Fender Competition Blue Mustang for $300 right now, with a hard shell case

Everyone forgets the Mustang was a "student model" guitar that was the next step up from the Bronco. it had more features, but they weren't all that incredible. They were cheap and plentiful at one time until Kurt Cobain used them. Then the prices skyrocketed. Personally, I wouldn't even pay $300 for a 69. The new one is probably better. The racing stripe was cool at the time on the Competition Mustang. Even grand is cheap for a guitar today when you consider inflation. My 72 Strat was $285 in 1972. That translates to around $1200 today. $285 was a lot of coin back then. It always cracks me up when people say how much things cost when it's just inflation driving things up. My first job in 1973 paid me $95 a week. I pull a tiny bit more than that today.

Indeed. Guitars are fairly priced for today's world.

An original '54 was not cheap in its day. Same thing with a '59 Les Paul. They were expensive in their heyday.

The funny thing is, way back, guitars and amps were considered used or old and not "vintage" and were priced accordingly. Today everyone thinks they have something special just because it might say "Limited Edition" , "Reissue" or something to that effect on it. Usually, they are limited to how many people will buy them and are not really limited in any way. I bought my 74 Champ in 1986 for $150. I just saw one at Sam Ash for $800. I laughed my arse off when the salesman gave me his sales spiel about how it's a piece of Fender history.

Yep... I think I got my mind set on the Mustang special in CAR. 8)

Time to save up... hopefully graduation money will be good this year...

Just had a random idea: it would be cool if fender released a MIJ Mustang market that raised money to aid Japan...

It could be painted like the flag, maple neck, and maybe a matching painted headstock...

Maybe something like "best slogan for new Pawn Shop series" contest?
