My 2 cents worth...

I read all the time on this board and others:

"Gee - why don't we get to have some of the cool things that Fender Japan produces?"

"Geez - I wish Fender would come out with something new!"

"Man - I wish Fender would produce a Fender version of the Squier 51."

Well gang... here they are - and I'm diggin' them!

$799.99 for a Japanese Fender? No problem! I've got a Japanese Mustang, a Japanese Strat, a Japanese Jag, a Japanese Baritone Jag and several Japanese Telecasters - all great guitars. I won't even blink at $799.00 for a Japanese Fender 51. I can't get my wallet out fast enough! And I'll prolly get several of them before I'm done.

Way Cool - I've told you before that you need to score a 51 when you find one. You know how much I love my Telecasters, but I always have a 51 sitting on the stand next to whatever Tele happens to be out at the time. They're fun to play, they have some great sonic options (kinda like a Baja Tele), and I just think they're cool looking. To me they have an "Old School" look to them, especially sitting next to a Tele.

I already have a black 51 on order w/ Sweetwater - I can't wait to get it!

ive played 1 that i kinda liked, just "kinda". the guy did a lot of custom work on it and a fret leveling to get it close to playing like it did.
the girl that lives outback of me has one, a santana model i believe it is. she wants $200 for it. i wont do it. she hits me up about once a month.
for the off the shelf stuff, i think they sound like garbage and play close to it too.
the guys guitar above was the first one i played. i thought they all played like that so i went looking. i was wrong. the PRS Student Edition isnt worth the money in my opinion. i would rather buy a mim strat.

How much crack do you smoke? They will not make you a good guitar for 75 dollars. Things cost money.

no they dont, what people ask for is what it cost, this country sure as hell aint in the position for someone to be charging this much

thats the whole problem down here. companies keep raising their prices on things to cover the cost of their loss during the downed economy.
what would make sense is to lower the price to something more affordable
and depend on selling more to bring in the profits not selling less at a higher price to bring in the profits. its greed any way you look at it.

but as to what these should sell for nobody here knows as i dont think anybody has player one as of yet. im sure when they do it will be told as the greatest thing since sliced bread. watch and see.

I had two of the Squier 51's. I really liked the idea and am pumped to see these new guitars. The Sea Foam/ Surf 72 is just cool as hell looking. If the build quality and feel and smell of these guitars is right- Fender should have no problem selling a whole bunch of them! I hope the bodies are fat like regular Strat bodies. Pawn Shop Series = This is what I'm talkin' 'bout! Sweet!!!!

All 3 definitely have that coolness factor; If that Mustang and 51 came in Surf Green like the 72, I'd definitely put it on the GAS list (like I really need more guitars!  )

So in your opinion, what should one of these models cost?
$500, i know where i can get a '69 Fender Competition Blue Mustang for $300 right now, with a hard shell case

I would put $800 to a Japanese fender.
Japan and its economy could really use the money right now...

haha Where? What makes it price so low? details! (if its a starting bid on ebay, then you know the price is just going to skyrocket after bidding takes place...)

Generally speaking, when it comes to guitars, you get what you pay for. Most "deals" are never a deal at all - JMHO.
