I think both the new models look interesting. I wonder how long it will be before they're in stores for test drives? At least the marketing guru's didn't name them Junk Yard Dogs! Maybe they're going for a reverse pyschology thing. I've always found pawn shop guitars to be overpriced anyway.

Here's the rundown with soundbites...

I'm diggin' the Fender 51. I'll add it to my 3 Squier 51's. Great guitars!

I'll pass on this series. They look good but not my cup of tea.

The model numbers start with 026. If I remember correctly, that means they are made in South Korea.

ok niki, i'll bite here. whats your dream guitar?
it has always seemed that the off the shelf guitars were always lacking something
i wanted them to have so custom was always they way to go. buy it, customize it, play it.

A Strat hollowbody in translucent black, a lefthanded tele neck (must be maple boarded). A tele 3 saddle bridge (yes I know all about the intonation problems, but they sound so good). Then either a SD singlecoil sized tele bridge humbucker or a high output single coil. The bucker would have to deliver a great authentic coil split sound. So I guess thats out. Not sure of the neck pickup, but I'm leaning towards a Gibson mini humbucker as per 70's deluxes. Strat scratchplate cut out for the bridge, in white.

niki, i saw somewhere where a guy explains his way of intonation for these bridges.
hes some older country guy. i cant remember his name but if i heard it i could tell ya so.
there is a method to his madness but folks over on the tele forums swear hes as close as you can possibly get. if you need me to i can find the article for you. its a good read but a bit over my head.

and they are asking that much for one? ive yet to play the first korea fender that was worth a ....... this will be interesting. you can pick up a MIM strat body and mim tele neck for less than that on ebay.

I think they look cool in a quirky sort of way. I'd be extremely interested to play one of the '72s. A guitar with a semi-hollow strat body and 6105 frets? That sounds like something that would be right up my ally. I'm not such a huge fan of humbuckers though, but it's still interesting.
