the first run cost around $200 or so right? why would they come out with a guitar that failed the first goaround and charge $X the original price?
i mean it does look cool but............. well the pickguard is ugly as sin.

Yeah granted, it needs a strat pickguard, or a tele one.

The first time round they were Squier made. You could argue the same with. Why buy a Fender for £1K when you can buy a Squier for £150.

Though I estimate the UK price to be around £650. I'd need two just to get the neck I want on the body I want.

Bah that Masterbuilt one off just got a step closer.

Tsk tsk Nevin. If it's a project guitar add your own coil splitting. And a onboard fuzz circuit too.

A Strat hollowbody in translucent black, a lefthanded tele neck (must be maple boarded). A tele 3 saddle bridge (yes I know all about the intonation problems, but they sound so good). Then either a SD singlecoil sized tele bridge humbucker or a high output single coil. The bucker would have to deliver a great authentic coil split sound. So I guess thats out. Not sure of the neck pickup, but I'm leaning towards a Gibson mini humbucker as per 70's deluxes. Strat scratchplate cut out for the bridge, in white.

Build me one, too...that sounds cool!

Although, I want a P90 pickup in the bridge...and make it translucent orange...with a rosewood fretboard...and a mother-of-toilet-seat pickguard...ok, it's massively different.

The cool-looking tremolo on those old Mustangs were just that--cool looking. They were Hades on intonation and staying in tune, though.

I had an original 1964 Mustang (I guess it was originally white, but it was yellow by the time I got it in 1991; it had a red tortoise pickguard) that looked cool, but the dang thing would not stay in tune if you touched the tremolo bar. The neck was a way to small for me, too. Sold it for a $75 profit!

I don't think they just look cool, I'm a HUGE tremolo fan (all my guitars have 'em) as far as the thing going out of tune as soon as you touch it, I would imagine that after 50+ years, someone at Fender would be able to design a functioning mustang tremolo...IMHO
