Yes. Can't beat it for the money. Lots to play with. And it's a Fender.

I keep reading about the mods...any speakers in particular to check into? I'm a fan of the JJ tubes already so I'm good on where to go for that.

Yes, I have one. Very flexible practice amp and the tone selection keeps my creative juices flowing

To all you SCXD owners looking for a speaker, consider the 8 ohm Jensen MOD10-50 50W. Based on the specs and after installing it in my own SCXD, I have to say that it does not add much if anything to the tone of the amp. The BF sounds very true, as do all the other voices on the second channel.

I know there is a lot of love for the Ragin Cajun and I do think it sounds great, but IMHO, it does not sound like the original speaker. Both of these speakers are loud, but I prefer the Jensen MOD10-50 50W to replicate the original sound of my SCXD at louder levels.

As Jensen's lit says: "[it is] a speaker that complements the signal without changing the signatures of the amp itself". Check it out at MF (or any other store). At $40.55 I think it is a bargain, just like the amp.

Cheers!

I will definitely give this some consideration. Thanks for the info. I was tossing around the idea of my B52 12's in a cab. I have a B52 AT-212 that grenaded on me. I bought it...it was unbelievable!!! Then it over heated and I had to have it fixed....warranty....well after a buch of grief from the repair shop.....ie..the amp came back with scratches in the fabric, the head wasn't even screwed in tight to the cab, and my jewel cover on the power light was broke.

I have to say guitar center took it back and corrected the issues and I was fairly pleased. The thing worked ....eh...ok...for a while. I started using my classic 30 again and using my 52 at practice because I didn't trust it. One night I turned on the B52 and it smoked....no more noise. After much laughing at my own expense I'm thinking of parting it out and maybe running the xd through one or both of the speakers if it's possible just to see how it sounds. If I do I will post results. The B52 weighs around 80 to 90 lbs for a 212 combo amp. I think 50 of that is the magnets on the drivers.

Also going to try throwing one of the twelves into the classic 30 to see how that goes as well.

I have had an SCXD for 2 years now and it is my main gigging and recording amp I love it so much. IMHO, I would say don't change out the speaker. Let it break in and believe me you will really be glad that you did once it has settled in. If I may make a recommendation instead of changing out the speaker(and voiding your warranty) make a speaker cabinet with which ever speaker you choose....just a suggestion. Be ready for one sweet sounding amp!!
ABS :D

I like the idea of a cab. I would have to try a cab with the 12's. I know for a fact there isn't enough clearence for that large a speaker and I'm not ready to shell out any more cash for another speaker just yet.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll let it ride and see what happens. :D

Well....I sold a strat of mine over the weekend and picked up an XD from guitar center. I got a new XD and the foot switch for a little over 280. I figured it was a good enough deal. I took the amp to a gig that night and fired it up in between sets. I have to say, for a little 10" combo that thing has got some BALLS! I can't wait to take it out at practice and get it broken in. I did notice that there seemed to be some tube rattle going on. The power tubes are GT's, but wasn't sure what the preamp tube is...wondering if Fender dropped a cheap $@!& tube in the preamp. Will have to look into and replace.

I'll probably get to that at some point, but right now I don't want to kill my warranty. 8)

I just played an SCXD for the first time the other day. I think it'd make a great at home practice amp. It'd also be good as an amp to have with me when I hang out with my family, we're always playing music and with 5 amps in one room it can get a little crowded.
