I first picked up a nasty old clasical when I was 10, that was 31 years ago, been in giging bands etc over the years but now just play because I still enjoy it.

I found you don't really appreciate how much you know until you try teaching somebody else and they tell you that your amazing; actually I'm a long way from amazing, I know guitarists that are amazing but they don't think they are and they tell me they know guitarists that are amazing....lol, so on and on it goes... a continual cycle of learning and improving :-)

I did not realize how much I had learned till I started teaching by 11 year old granddaughter.

I'd have to agree. Over the decades I've noticed that most of the guitarists who think they are amazing aren't. The one's who think they are average, but are amazing, can always point out someone better. Of course I never really mind someone telling me I'm amazing. 8)

I call myself a hack--but I'd say I'm better than the average guitarist at some things, and worse at others.

But I'm having fun.

I know a lot about it-sometimes my fingers listen--sometimes they don't.

Decent. I told myself that once I can play Scuttle Buttin' by Stevie Ray I knew that I was getting somewhere. :D

If a guitar player askes me, I tell them I'm pretty Darn Good. If a regular person asks, I tell them I get by, then waylay them with extreme guitar antics.

Rank re-beginner. After laying off of guitars for 30+ years, it's taking me some time to get back at it. :?

But I haven't been thrown out of the house or chased to the garage, so I must be doing something right.
