I want to make beads from the "bullet" ends of my old Super Bullets strings, but I can't determine how the string is secured into the end. If it is glued or soldered, I don't think I can get the string out, but if the string end is crimped or somehow "jammed" in there, I may be able to poke the string out and have just the brass "bullet" end. Anyone know the answer? Thanks!

Another possibility is that they are crimped on. It's possible that the tapered end of the bullet looks quite different before the string is inserted and it is then crimped to the final shape. If this is the case you could try forcing the string out by pulling with some mechanical means. I think that even with a very sturdy drill press and vise it would likely not be wise to try to drill out the string as a bit that small would likely be extremely difficult to keep from deflecting. That is unless you don't mind also having a hole in the bottom of the bullet then maybe you could drill from that end.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

I doubt very much you could do it without causing a lot of damage to the Bullet end because they're engineered to withstand a lot of string tension so I dare say that they are pretty strongly set into the Bullet ends. You would maybe have to pretty well destroy the Bullet to remove the string end.

Thanks for the advice, I guess I knew it was a longshot...I do use ball ends from other strings as beads, no problem with those, of course!
