which amp would you play through? All things considered & do you prefer pedals or on-board effects. Which is better, which goes back to my initial question. Mustang III or SuperChamp ..?

I have the superchamp xd and I have played through a Mustang II too.
For me the scxd has more quality sounds. I like 15 of the total 16 modulations (the jazz mod sounds soulless to me).

I was very impressed by the first Fender-ish sounds of the Mustang. By impressed I mean that I didn't expect that tube-y outcome from a tube-less amp. The American 90s' were ok but that's it. The plus on the mustang was the wattage, the bigger speaker and the more effects that it had in comparison with the scxd and the ability to combine them. And of course the ability to store presets.

In conclusion I thing that the Mustang is better for gigs is more flexible when it comes to effects but the scxd is better for home practice/recording and is better sounding on more modulations.

I've got the Super Champ, a Mustang II and a Mustang V half-stack. I like the XD for practice and for very small venues, but the Mustangs make it easier and pack a lot of wallop on stage, especially if it's your turn to play lead. :)
