Ive got his album that he recorded with different singers "Guitar Heaven" and it blows pigs! Only saving grace is Mr Cornell, Mr Cocker and Mr Lang!

Incredible player, tone and feel. Has not given us anything new since his first three albums.

Early work by Carlos was incredible. Try playing the lead to Evil Woman and making it sound like Carlos did. His flow and timing was a little different.

You're kidding right?,milli vanilli were fakes,Carlos can play,I've seen him.
I have thought that all the guest solos on songs in recent years have sounded much the same....but in the early days he did some amazing stuff.
Bill Graham convinced the promoters of Woodstock to put them on,as they were unsigned and unknown at the time, but Graham had booked them at the Fillmore West and knew they could rock.
One thing nobody can deny is that he is instantly recognizable...there's no fake there.

love his playing, but doesn't come across great in interviews. too mystical- too self absorbed for me

i dont care for him. woodstock was the best thing to ever happen to this guy. if you read enough of his interviews, he always wants to turn the suject to woodstock.
look at all his pics in the mags, hes got the same pose over and over again.
(head up mouth open) yeah he can play but............
its kind of funny, if you played at woodstock your "a god" or a "legend" or some label like that. personally, i think hes WAY overrated, probably the most overrated guitar player in history. hes a poser blues man at best. hes the best thing to ever happen to PRS though.
if it were not for him, PRS wouldnt be over priced either. dont get me wrong, they are great guitars, but NOT worth the price.
he just put out a cover album. 1 song on it was pretty good, the rest were butchered at best. couldnt believe it.

He's not my favorite, but IMO his talent is undeniable.

Despite all of his mystical musings etc. he really is one great guitarist, possibly the smoothest and most fluid of all time but in the past few years his contributions haven't been as fullfilling to me as they were in the past.

He said it all on the first three LP's. Seems like he's gorged on self-indulgence and living vicariously via his ancient history ever since then.

Abraxas and Moonflower are still some of my favorite albums today... he had one of the sweetest tone (not a Strat tone of course). I can't believe someone would compare him to Milli Vanilli! WTF?! There are very few players out there that you can tell it's them after hearing one note, Santana is one of them, nothing fake about that!

Here, enjoy some fake music!

I don't care for any of his new work nor do I care about his tone nowadays... I saw him couple years ago, Dereck Trucks opened for him, I enjoyed Dereck way more. But when Santana invited Dereck on stage to do a couple of songs he was a different guy! That was the best part of the whole concert.

I've always liked his early stuff.I happen to be reading a book right now called Soul Sacrifice .It's a great read about the early years how Santana came from Mexico and moved north to San Francisco and made a name for himself. He had alot of ups and downs in those early years but he has a killer style like no one else. He's made a descent living for himself so he must of done something right.I had no idea he played violin first all throughout tijuana Mexico as a very young lad and eventually playing guitar.

Santana is awesome. I seen him play with his band back in 1978 at Rosenblatt Stadium just prior to the Collage World Series. He is a true Hall of Famer. You can't bad mouth the classics.

I missed my chance to see the band Santana in 69 and 70 but was lucky to see Gregg Rolie and Neal Schon with Ansley Dunbar and Journey twice in 75 and 76. If you were around in 69 when Santana hit the airwaves you understand the contribution that they made to rock and roll history. No other band up to that time captured the rhythmic mix of latin percussion and amazing rock guitar like they did. The Woodstock movie is one example but in reality they turned the scene over under sideways down and up again with contemporaries like The Allman Brothers, Jimi Hendrix, Mountain, The Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, Grand Funk Railroad, Alice Cooper, Uriah Heep, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Steeley Dan, Sly and the Family Stone just to name some of the greatest bands of that time who dominated the radio playlists and party playlists of the young people then. I know that now after hearing those hit songs enough times to make one sleepy it doesn't erase the excitement listeners were treated to when that much talent was in the air all at once. If you look at it from that perspective they brought a wonderful flavor, that people loved, to rock and roll music and for many is still an important ingredient of modern music of the 20th century.
