Do any of you have any experience with Adagio Premium Series (with GUARD) Acoustic Extra Light 10-47 Strings?

I had never even heard of them until I was doing a search for Acoustic strings on eBay.

Hi Chet: I've never heard of them and none of my regular online string suppliers have either.

The only seller in the UK that I can find is this one:

http://advantageguitar.com

I've never heard of them before either and I notice that though they do have a realworld address they give no phone number, which is often not a good sign. And I've never heard of their other products - Biyang FX pedals, anyone?

It all smacks of a kitchen table retail operation selling cheap Chinese product, mostly on Ebay. Not necessarily anything wrong with that - but I'm not tempted.

Adagio sounds like a name chosen for its similarity to D'Addario, to piggyback some instant cred. Still, there was a time when names such as Ibanez and Gotoh meant budget Far East lookalike product too, and look where they've got to now.

What made you ask about a UK connection, I wonder?

Cheers - C

Thanks Ceri. I have never heard of them before either. The UK connection is, when I saw them on eBay they were only being sold by sellers in the UK.

Yep, that's the same seller who's website I linked to above. Most of the ones on Ebay are him too.

I suspect someone's paid a visit to Shanghai and done a little import deal and now has product to shift. I expect they're as good as any other budget strings: after all, there's a fair possibility they're being made on machinary sold off by one of the western manufacturers. That's often how it works.

Cheers - C
