thats not it really. i just dont think hes all that to be honest.
hes got a few good tunes out that we all like, but other than that.....
at one time i did feel the same way about eric, but, the folks on this forum
really changed my thinking about him and im glad they did. hell, im looking at my
complete clapton CD right now. in time i might change my mind on BB but i seriously dont think so. im sure some folks feel a certain way about me for not liking BB but thats ok too. i even own BB's "there is always one more time" disc too lol.
just picked up gary moore's "still got the blues" disc. i knew gary from the rock n roll days
as a great guitar player. when i had heard he moved over to blues i was shocked.
i heard him do one tune and i didnt like it. i felt he was somewhere he shouldnt be.
it took yrs before i would give it another shot. we i was listening to a demo of a few songs
a friend was trying to work with. one song caught my attention but the name slips me as it was a long time ago. he told me it was gary moore. thee gary moore i had asked. yep sure is. i feel over in disbelief. he had really found himself in the blues.
i was blown away. i think it was the gary moore RIP thread that i mentioned that it was my opinion that he was one of the last well rounded guitar players of our time.
i honestly believe that to this very second in time. gary was amazing. yrs ago i lost all of my music collection in a storage situation. since then ive been selecting this and that trying to build up a solid collection again. i was in a shop today and for some reason it hit me that i didnt have any gary moore stuff on the shelf at home, nothing. so i asked the guy if he had any, i have one he said but you might not want it.
i guess he was going off my looks cause i still have that heavy metal appearance about me lol. well what do you know, he had what i believe to be one of the best gary moore cd's one can own, "still got the blues". i scooped it up w/o thinking twice and shot home like a little kid with a found nudy book. slapped it in and just chilled.
wow, how did we get on this topic?

I just wanted to add Joe 'Guitar' Hughes. He grew up with Albert Collins and Johnny Copeland in Houston. Albert and Johnny went out to the West and East coast and he hung around in the Houston area.

Did someone mention Houston,Texas? I didn't know Houston had the blues. So is the ZZ Top song a choice-heaven,hell,or houston? Geez what a tough choice :P
Just kidding-being from where I live with very very little blues music I know Houston isn't really mentioned in the blues vein;it's always Austin.

The Austin blues scene is actually comparatively new. It's always existed to a certain extent, but it really picked up steam in the '70s onward. Houston's heyday was more in the 40s-70s, with things tapering off ever since. Luckily, there's still enough of a remnant of it that you can still find gigs, but now the bulk of the Texas music scene revolves around Austin. Whether it's blues or anything.
