Early detection is a HUGE factor - - it saved my life!

I remember your all clear verdict on the 6 month check up and how happy I was. Every victory against that horrible thing is a win for all as far as I'm concerned.

Had a bit of a year of it. Lost my uncle and best mate in September and October respectively. My uncle was the bloke responsible for getting me into rock. He scared the hell out of me with his drum kit and loud Zeppelin records when I was a toddler. My mate was the atypical reprobate, crash on your sofa for months on end, get you arrested, take you out on a 3 day drink and drug binge, mate. The kind that you only get one per lifetime.
On the plus side, an old friend just beat a very rare form of ovarian cancer. Can't remember what it's called but it kills all but 5% that get it. It's so rare there is little known about it because they never get chance to examine it. That was good, she got a celebratory cake.

It's been about 14 months since this fella passed on, :(

Agreed mate - it sucks - I had some good communicado with KC during his final weeks - I have his name on my "Wall of C" and always think of him AND the others on there.

Your uncle and mate are added to my "wall" - - fighting cancer is a lifelong deal..

I hope that all of your reports give you the all clear when you have them done.I'll be praying that things turn out great for you.

BTW: A good friend of mine and a first cousin of mine worked for the same business and they were both diagnosed with Hodgkin's Disease within weeks of each other. My cousin immediately fell to pieces and started drinking in incredibly excessive amounts and just sat around the house wallowing in a drunken stupor and self pity.My buddy on the other hand went on a high protein diet and gave up prepared foods and ate all natural foods with no preservatives. He also started playing squash and other sports as well as jogging this was over 20 years ago. In the meantime my cousin carried on drinking more and more and was dead within less than 2 years. My buddy on the other hand kept up his active regimen and was still cancer free in his last checkup a few months ago.

Thanks...it always brings out the anxiety to the max...wondering if this will be the time that they find something.

Once you've had a stage III cancer there is no guarantee that you'll ever be cancer free again, but by having the surgeries and chemo treatments the recurrence is around a 10% chance compared to a 90% chance if not monitored on a regular basis...it's just the way it rolls.

If you suspect anything wrong or it's your time to be checked, please don't hesitate...early detection is a key factor.

I can remember going though chemo and posting updates in a thread that I had started here to possible help anyone else that happened to be diagnosed...but that thread seems to have mysteriously vanished from the database.

I believe it was called "Music, Cancer and Chemo" - - anyway,
thanks again for your positive thoughts and I have no reason to believe they'll find anything more than some areas of diverticulosis, which everyone has to some degree after they reach age 50 or so.
