I just got news that a very good friend of mine passed away from throat cancer in Calgary on the weekend.I had known him since the early 70s and had played in several of the clubs he either owned or managed. He took an avid interest in my career and was always there for me.Although he had quit smoking over 25 years ago it still caught up with him.My heart goes out to his wife and kids as I knew all of them as well as I did my own family and spent many good times in their home.I wish they'd find a cure for this terrible epidemic,it seems that the more money they pour into it the cure seems farther away.

I'm really sorry to hear that about your friend.
I have lost both family and friends to cancer as I'm sure many people on this forum will have also.

My thoughts are with you and the families affected.

Ash

Condolences to you and your friends family Guitslinger.

It does seem like forever that a cure has been sought, seems the more progress made the further away it gets

Im sorry to hear your loss, It's pretty hard when you loose someone that you have known for a long time. I will give a moment of my own time today to give thoughts to you and the family affected from my part of the earth, right here in New Zealand.

Cancer is not a nice word, I hate it. One of the very few things in this world I hate.

If I had one wish- it would be that there would be no more of it in this world. It affects everyone and does not discriminate.

My mother passed away last Thursday. Leukaemia, cancer in the blood. I am in the throws of writing a song for her. She was a country fan and I hate most country music but I don't mind Keith Urban nearly as much as the others so I'm going to try to emmulate or at least take some cues from his writing style if I can to give it some sort of country flavor.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

Thanks guys for your comforting words. My sympathys go out to you BMW-KTM I have lost a few family members and many friends to cancer.I doubt if there are many people around that haven't lost someone close to cancer. My niece was working on cancer research at the local med school and they made some positive headway.Maybe someday all the knowledge from all these research facilities will be pooled together and they'll find a cure.

It's been 4 years in remission for me.

Next round of screenings Monday-Thurs upcoming week.

Early detection is a HUGE factor - - it saved my life!
