What is the cheapest guitar rig/setup you've ever used or possessed? Simple as that, picture would be cool.

Mine:
Epiphone DR-100
D' Addario EJ16 Light Acoustic Strings .12-.53
Dunlop Tortex .50/.60 mm Picks
Second- Hand Planet Waves Strap

Gonna get pics up ASAP

My cheapest electric guitar rig was a Dover MIJ 3/4 Jazzmaster-like copy and a 5W Paul amp which I both have.Bought for Christmas '67 at Sears in Toronto for $150,my Mom worked there and got a 15% staff discount. My cheapest guitar was a no-name hand-me-down from my uncle-it was free.

I guess the cheapest was my first--a solid state Gibson G20 amp (paid $25 and a six-pack of beer for it...then I drank half of the beer  ) and my G&L F-100 (I truly can't remember what I paid for it, but I seem to remember paying less than $250 dollars...considering what I got, it was a steal at any price).

I still have (and play) both of those instruments.

My cheapest rig was so cheap the amp didn't even have a name on it... paired it with an all black strat knock-off. Can't even remember the brand on the knock-off. I thought it was Univox but I can't find anything they made that looked like my old guitar.

I'm not exactly sure what the cheapest would be. I don't really have a problem piecing together guitars from what's considered cheap parts though.

Past couple of shows, I've been playing this guitar:
Image

It's pieced together from an old Squier Bullet body, Glen Burton neck, Dimarzio Super Distortion, and Benson Custom humbuckers. I always liked the sound of this particular guitar body. Every pickup I've put in it just sings. The neck has always felt great to me, it just came off a dead sounding body. So I decided to put them together. Did a little relic job to it. It doesn't feel like I'm playing a cheap guitar at all. Very solid and smooth to play.

I can't recall ever having to play on cheap equipment. My first guitar and amp were a Fender '57AVRI and a Marshall lead 12 which was like a practice amp if that counts. But the guitar was awesome. I've had a lot of good equipment since then.. Anything I play now that may be considered cheap is by choice. I use my trusty $150 Roland JC-50 for every show we play.

Samick strat....First guitar. It had to be the best damn starter guitar. It was super cheap and had black strat body with white pick gaurd. Held tune like a champ and intonation was excellent for a cheap guitar. I ran through a little Peavey Rage amp with an 8" speaker...after I learned my first song from start to finish I was awarded with a Peavey Classic 30....still have it and still use it to this day. About 15 years now.

My first rig was my Squier Affinity Strat and a Squier Champ 15 amp which worked about 50% of the time. $120 together, but it was a gift from my parents for Christmas one year.

I guess technically the blues rig I have now was pretty cheap. It's the same Squier Strat (plus $200 for the Texas Specials I put in a couple of years ago) and my amp is a Fender Deluxe VM that I won here in a forum contest so it was free. All in all if you count the guitar as being about $80, plus the $200 pickups, I only paid $280 for my rig. Well, maybe $300 if you count the cord. My rock/church rig includes some pedals and another guitar, so it would be a little bit more expensive all together.

I have a Squier Affinity Tele I use when I go to a cabin I have cause I don`t want to bring any of my good guitars there. The pick ups sound like an alley cat in heat ( changing them now ) and the switch cuts out different pups when going from one to the other. As far as I`m concerned, its firewood.

First rig would be an Encore E5 with a Flyspeck headphone amp cos my mum wouldn't let me get a real amp!! Pretty quickly though I gt a Peavey Backstage Plus.

I actually gave the guitar to a girl I was trying to impress when I got another cheapo guitar - one of those Epiphone Strat copies!! Didn't work, she married one of my mates!
Funny though she still has it and she got it modified a few years back with a new neck and dropped a bareknuckle into it as well with a better bridge too and the thing sings like a bird. Might try and get a photo of it too!!
