LOL! I was gigging before I could drive, too, and then when I had my learner's permit I had to have my dad go to gigs with me for six months. And he wouldn't let me haul any of the other guys either.

But before I drove, I used to trudge 12 miles (uphill all the way) through ice and snow, guitar on a strap around my neck, amp in one and then the other, to the nearest bus stop...

oh yeah, i remember the public transportation days too.
no matter what you did you couldnt make it look cool either. lol

First gig hauling vehicle?
Just like most other Southern boys hauling whatever, pickup trucks with gear piled high and rifle racks in the rear windows....and the ever present panel vans, that look like the one on the Gordon potato chip bags. :)

My mom's teal-green '67 Plymouth Valiant sedan.

Not bad when I only owned a Super Reverb. But when I stepped up to a Dual Showman, it was like WWF every night I wrestled that cab into the back seat!

My first gig vehicle was a '93 Grand Cherokee. It was a lot more comfortable than driving a 150 miles each way to a gig than was my lead singer's Trans-Am, and I could load all the gear for the band inside, and avoided having to tow a trailer.

Kind of reminds me of a late 70's Toyota Celica, which I've always liked. Cool car.

there ya go. sounds like the backup band for steve earl lol. being originally from WV, i know dang well that any time you have a pickup truck, a 30-30 and music gear, peavey is in there somewhere. its a guarantee so good you can bet the farm on it.
now if the dog is in there too, you know automaticly there is a pint of early times or
jack or beam. mayby some old grand dad it times have been hard. oh and somewhere under the seat there is some hank. theres always some hank.
hey there might be a whole rack of heavy metals top 100 bands of all time, but theres gonna be some dang hank in there somewhere.

Good question!

A home made covered utility trailer made from the rear end of a Ford pickup truck, pulled behind my Dad's 55 Chevy 4 door. They used to haul us around at lunch time to play sock hops at some of the schools around town.

God Bless my parents. They bought me my first guitar & amp, and then as punishment had to listen to us 'practice' in the basement.

Paid it forward to my grandson this Xmas with his first electric guitar & amp. The good news - my kids have to listen to him practice in their basement. LOL.

Years later when our band went on it's first tour, we used to travel in several pickups with huge campers on the back loaded to the gills with equipment. While the equipment was safe and comfortable inside, we slept outdoors in sleeping bags wrapped in plastic when it rained. Used to go to sleep at 2 or 3 in the morning (after the gigs) singing "I'm so glad that I'm a Oscar Meyer wiener". Think I still have scars from the mosquito bites.
