Westbury, NY March 25th...2.5 hours non-stop...only the side men took a break now and then. Sorry JM, you can't touch this. No young honey lovely goo-eyed bimbos hangin' out stage front, here. Totally serious, committed, very passionate adult fanbase, mixed, but heavy on the gnarly guys side. Black Country Communion comes to NJ later on. That's as close to NY/NE as they are going to get, and skinny on the venue did not get many high fives from the faithful, but many plan to attend.
It's bridge pickup all the way with this guy and the custom LP with the Explorer reverse headstock which he had built exclusively for the title track of the new CD[see Premier Guitar online] is a houseburner.
One cue...playing in the round on the Westbury stage prompts an awareness that you have to play to stage right and left occasionally, but JB appears to instinctively and habitually turn left to interface with the band and often when he gets deep into a solo he just forgets stage front.....so.......tickets on the right side of the house, facing the stage, can be a plus. We were 5th row far stage right and we pretty much had the view of his playing for most of the evening, more so that the center or the left side. If you're within traveling distance of ground zero on this tour, its a must.
]T-shirts were $30+  Fender CS Rock and Roll Religion long sleeve dress shirts are a far better deal.]

Sounds like it was a great show Doc. Bonamassa is one player I really want to go see in the near future.

Yeah Joe's one guy I wouldn't hesitate to go see again Doc, all pretty sedate, orderly and adult going in to the auditorium find your seat then BAM, BAM, BAM non-stop, even the acoustic gets a thrashing to within an inch, "Smokin" sums him up Doc, glad you had a great night

Joe's new CD is in the mail and on its way to the Beaubs house. Can't wait to listen to some blues "Joe Style". Maybe someday he will make a stop in Minneapolis?

Thanks for the review Doc. I admire JB's chops and gear. I was unaware of the new guitar and I get PG at home and online. I haven't cracked the April issue yet.

We want to see him but the three venues he's playing at out this way all sold out within hours and the ticket companies want $250 plus. I'll try again next year.

The new album is a masterpiece. I thought he couldn't get better after John Henry, then he put out Black Rock which was stellar and now Dust Bowl. My copy has been in heavy rotation since I got it last week.

you can hear samples of each song on amazon

Hi Doc: Joe is over my way in the summer with Black Country Communion and then again with his own band in the autumn.

With his band he's doing two nights in my town at the Hammersmith Apollo - one night is seated and the next they're pulling the seats out for a standing gig. My wife got advance notice of ticket sales from her regular agency and emailed me to ask which show I'd prefer to see. But I wasn't quick enough responding - so she bought tickets for both nights.

That's my idea of how a marriage is meant to work. 8)

Cheers - C

I heard Joe's recent concert at Milwaukee's Pabst Theater.

Greg Koch came out and jammed a bit!

Joe is playing great these days.

Mine works more along the lines of "it's too loud", sometimes. But I must be fair in saying that she like's ME's new CD and some of the tracks on JB's "John Henry." Also a major fan of Santana.
