Thinking of a new small amp for me wife. What about a Marshall or Peavey 30w 12''? Each is about $200. Yes its for her.

That could be a lot of noise for a wifey! I'd keep my wife under 10 watts tubed.

A 30W amp for the little woman-she must be a rocker-God Bless her.I suggest one of the Vox Valvetronox or Marshall hybrid modelling amps as they have really authentic models that come very close to emulating the real amps that they model.A 15W Vox or Marshall is plenty loud for at home or even small venues.Even the 15W Vox Pathfinder 15R is incredibly loud for a S/S amp yet sounds very tubelike and only costs about $125.

What type of music does she play, and how serious is she about it? I'd say that for around that $200 range you should be able to find some decent new amps, and some good used amps. I'd choose Peavey over Marshall any day of the week.

I was playing this amp two days ago at Guitar Center and I loved it. I also played the 22-watt version, but that amp didn't do it for me. I'm thinking of running back (without the wife) and grabbing this little pistol.
