All over Europe this week end we will advance our clocks by one hour, for supposedly energy saving.
Now most people in Europe think it's useless.

No no no Alain, I love it.

I work on construction sites and can work longer days. I know I could get into work earlier, but I'm already on site at 5:30 am. I couldn't get to work much earlier, no matter how much light there is. I'll be able to work till 7pm from Sunday.

alain, we turned our clocks ahead one hour last weekend. all of mine went ahead automatically except an old Elvis clock that I just turned the minute hand once around. It's been going on for as long as I remember and now that you mention it, it does seem useless

However I did meet a most interesting fellow who carves wood, with a chainsaw.
He had his own printing business. One day got fed up of the rat race, sold everything he could. Whatever he couldn't sell he gave away. Moved into a old horse box in a field and carves wood with his chainsaw all day long.
Some lovely stuff. I'm buying the chair for the missus tommorow.

No no and no

As long as I can remember, Daylight Savings time has been a fact of life. They claim that it saves energy based on having natural light an hour later than normal. I have never heard of or seen any real figures on it, but I assume that it works on some level considering it been going on for so many years. I just hate having to adjust to losing an hour of sleep when the clocks go forward. Worked out well this year as I was on a graveyard shift and got to come home an hour 'earlier' than normal.
