I think it can lend a nifty aged vibe to a guitar. Much better than intentional relic-ing. I don't have one myself, and wouldn't put it on my white strat. I think it'd look good on sonic blue though.

I like mint green pickguards with certain colors, particularly Sonic Blue and Olympic White.

The Classic Player 60s Strat came with a mint green pickguard. I replaced the black guard with a mint green one on my American Special Tele.

Mint-green P/G's look good on most blues, greens, some whites, 3TSB, and black. Never on a red guitar though -- they make the body color look dingy (I prefer a parchment guard on FRED, CAR, Dakota, etc).

Hey John, I'm seriously digging that sahauro landscape -- not too many of them down here (all "transplants" from nurseries).

Agreed on the Sunbursts. The more subtle mint green guards on the American Deluxe and American Vintage models look great. And of course a naturally aged mint green pickguard on a vintage Fender always looks cool.

The saguaro in the background planted itself and has grown steadily for 40 years. It was pristine until last year when a Gila Woodpecker pecked a nesting hole in it. It was a good thing for that bird that it's part of a protected species.

I think that pecked hole will eventually develop into another "arm". At least that's what I've been told over the years.

Hey, are you going to the Tempe guitar show on Saturday?

That saguaro isn't old enough to have any arms. I have read that it can take up to 75 years for side arms to grow. That leaves me out unless I can find a fountain of youth somewhere.

Been thinking about going to the Tempe show. Is it worth the trip?

Thanks, Rebelsoul. I'm a sucker for classic colors like Sonic Blue and Surf Green. Of course now that I have those two colors covered, I want a Daphne Blue and a Fiesta or a Dakota Red Strat. It never ends, does it? :)

Really nice strats, folks! Some colours just seem to be made for a mint guard.

What color plastics are on the pickups and switch tip etc on that sonic blue? Regular or aged white? That's the look I'm going for with my next strat
