Alan I got some great results through Gumtree. Amps and pedals that I didn't ever buy to keep, but resell. And I shifted em pretty quick. I.e buy in Brum, sell in Nott's or Linc's.
Made a good bit of profit on amps.

Also I advertized decorating/joinery/plastering services on there during the worst of the recession (last year) and picked up a bit of half decent easy work. Got about a months worth for placing a free ad that took 2 minutes.

Love the tree.
