Ringo Starr and his All Starr Band are playing here in Manchester, in June but I don't know whether I'm actually interested in that, or not. I don't even know who his All Starr Band is.
Anyway, Pete Best was the original drummer with the Beatles but was not considered appropriate 'star' material by their new manager Brian Epstein and perhaps the other Beatles too. Whatever, Epstein used the other members' discontent, real or not, as the reason for ditching Best.
At the time, Ringo was playing with Rory Storm and the Hurricanes and was drafted into the Beatles line-up, having been deemed more suitable for the job. 'Best' move Ringo could have made...oh dear, lets move on.

I've seen him three times. Over the years he's had some pretty interesting lineups, though I'm not sure who's with him currently. He had Paul Carrack and Edgar Winter on past tours. Both put on a good show. Ringo's Ringo, what can I say. I like him, but he doesn't take the shows too serious.

Hi Rhumba - if it's the same band we saw him with a few months ago, it's a great show and features Rick Derringer, Edgar Winter, Wally Palmar (guitarist from The Romantics), Richard Page (bass player from Mr. Mister) and Gary Wright on second set of keys.

Some, but not all, of the tunes they did were (from a fading memory...lol) :

Ringo - I Wanna Be Your Man, Boys, It Don't Come Easy, Honey Don't, Photograph, Yellow Submarine, Liverpool 8, With A Little Help From My Friends and some new from latest CD.

Rick D - Hang On Sloopy (as he did the original with The McCoys from Detroit), Free Ride, A Jump Blues Tune, Rock n Roll Hootchie Koo. Rick uses several different guitars and is on every song...and rips some amazing riffage!!!

Great versions of some others too like Frankenstein (Edgar goes wild!), Talking in your Sleep, What I Like About You, Kyrie, Broken Wings, and there is another drummer...sometimes they both played, other times just Ringo, and other times when Ringo came out front the other drummer (who was quite good and a friend of Ringo's from what Ringo said).

Well worth the price, IMO. Ringo doesn't appear to be a day over 35 or so! :!:

His ALL-Starr Bands are usually pretty good!

Yes, lots of oldies material but hey, I'm an oldie too.
And Ringo knows he's not taken too seriously and doesn't try to be either.
He's there for the fun.

Very well in fact. I think that's where he should stay. He gets a bit loose when the mics in his hands.
