For Obscuring Classics, I'd recommend Leon Russell, Lonnie Mack, and Little Feat.

There's a group on Myspace called, "A New Shade". Pretty good Heavy Stuff.

Man I loved Little Feat.

Little Feat still Kicks Buns. I saw them just last year in a small Indian Casino in Sabulba. Kenny the bass player even came out and talked to My Mom, Dad, Brother, and I. He compared calluses with my Brother (who also playes Bass). Paul Barres gave me a Pick to give to my Mom. They're just the Coolest Band.

Granted, it's a different line up than Waiting for Columbus, But I'd like Paul Barres, Billy Pane, Freddy Tacket, Ritchie Hayward, Ken Gradney, Sam Clayton , and Shawn Murphy if they were called Medium feat.

This band got their start in a little corner bar in a town with a population of about 50 people, so it's more fitting than you even realized. :D

As I hold on to mt Clash roots with all my might, I have to throw in bands that I have been really getting into.

Carbon-Silicon: Mick Jones and Tony James (Generation X, Sigue Sigue Sputnik). They came full circle from their first band attempt London SS to today. Their site has some free downloads. http://www.carbonsiliconinc.com/

The Good, the Bad, the Queen: Paul Simonon, Damon Albarn (Blur), Simon Tong (the Verve). You can listen to some of their songs on their site. http://www.thegoodthebadandthequeen.com/

and of course, Joe Strummer and the Mescaleros. What an awesome band!

RIP

The Hives are alright. I like the Strokes better. The first Bloc Party album is pretty cool. Another good indie rock band is Be Your Own Pet from Nashville, Tennessee. They have a new album coming out in March.

For those that like down & dirty guitar playing, if you're not familiar with this band, it may be a treat, especially when they go into "Sweet Dreams". It's a long clip, but pretty good.

Oh yeah I'm excited about the new Black Crowes album. I bought the dvd of the reunion shows they did last year I think it was or maybe it was the year before. Have you ever heard of the Rx Bandits? They are a band from I think orange county, ca somewhere. They've gone through a lot of changes over the years. Some pretty awesome musicians in that band.
