It IS a lot of work and has questionable outcome.
I mean, sure it does some hum canceling but I don't believe for a moment that it eliminates hum completely as it is left to believe.

And the site is old as hell. I remember reading it in the early 00's

Anyway, if you have a newer strat (can't tell you how new) it is shielded already with ferrite paint in the cavity and aluminum behind the pickguard.

I'll 2nd Alex's opinion.
Too much work for too little result.

I tried shielding and really didn't like it. Too much treble loss to be comfortable. And it doesn't work completely. The majority of noise comes in through the pickups themselves. Not the back of the guitar. You can't shield the pickup in any practical way.
Also if you look at the theory behind guitar shielding, The Faraday cage http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Faraday_cage.
It is entirely dependant on their being no holes in the cage which remain unshielded. I.e that holes are small enough that the electromagnetic field is unaffected by them. Well the 3 holes for your pickups are way too big for it to work. Never mind the pickup top that attracts noise like a ice cream truck attracts kids in a heatwave.

Learn to love the noise mate. It's a better option than shielding.
