The DP223 is more powerful and midrange heavy in comparison to the 59 bridge which to many, tends to be lacking in output and "oomph".

The Duncan has (IMO), a dipped midrange and a bit higher end. As there are so many varieties of PAF type pickups, either would fulfill your requirements where one would be better than the other.

If by "smooth" you mean 'non-beefy', the 59 would serve you better. If you want something with a little more 'rip' to it, the DiMarzio would serve you better.

If you're talking the Little '59 for a Tele, I've got one. I think its hot but it still sounds like a Tele, a little more juiced up.
