I have an old bass guitar.when you play it starts at normal volume and fades away untill you really thump the strings.then it fades again!It's a PJ bass made by some company called magnum.It's a 2 vol 1 tone set.I think it's the cap but I don't know. If it seems to you like it's the cap,and it needs to be replaced,I don't know what to get because theres no numbers that tell the value!All it says is SAM HWA 2 A 6 8 3Please help!!!

Pretty much any 0.68uf polyester capacitor is a direct replacement.

Well I ended up with a 0.1uf cap.the guy said it should work so i hope it does... I guess we'll find out soon. here goes nothing...

Yeah the difference is nothing. It doesn't really change the sound of the guitar(.001-.047uf) or bass (.047 to .1uf). It just changes how the tone pot responds. How quickly it lets a load of treble roll off.
0.068 to 0.1uf is a nothing change inside a guitar.

Good luck with it. Sounds like a cold solder to me, more than a capacitor problem. So whilst your doing the cap, have a good look round the solder joints eh?

I put in the new cap and it worked fine .But who ever wired this thing in the first place didn't know what they where doing.SO, I got a diagram off seymour duncan took the whole thing apart and re-did it.tested it just to make sure it worked and it did but I have to wait for tomarrow to test for a long time because my mom is asleep
