Top o' de mornin' to ye as the folks around here and Ireland say on their national holiday. In Newfoundland St. Patrick's Day is second only to Christmas for mass celebration. Newfoundland and Irish music have become so intertwined here that they are almost indistinguishable from each other.I live right on The Irish Loop where 99% of the people can trace their lineage to a county in Ireland. Our cultures are so alike that even the dialects are the same and each town has adopted the dialect of the county most of the forebears are from.
I will be doing my share by blasting The Pogues and Celtic Woman all day as that's who I limit my Irish listening to these days as after living here so long I've developed overload as far as the music goes.I guess that's because I'm part of the 1% with no Irish blood.
Anyway to C.C. and all others of Irish ancestry have a few Guinness, kick up your heels and have a great Paddy's Day!!!

'Tis like a morn in spring here today and I'm sat here listening to the Pogues and Celtic Woman-got no Guinness though-don't drink much any more. They say there are 2 types of people on Paddy's Day and they are people who are Irish and the other is those who wish they were.

Our town will celebrate today with the "First ever, eighth annual, world's shortest St. Patricks day parade" as we do each year. This year's parade will host John Corbett as parade marshall and he and his band will entertain post parade. The street where the parade is held is only 98' long but the parade goes on for hours. There's sure to be a lot of fun and weirdness. Happy St. Paddy's everyone!

Happy Saint Patrick's day.
Drown Your Shamrocks, its weird, I've never heard anyone outside of this forum talking about green beer. I live in Ireland, so I suppose it must be a mostly American thing.
