I love them, Just have to get past the slight 60 cycle hum, (it really isn't too bad). I tried swapping out the pickups in my American Special, with Dimarzio Cruisers, They are a great pickup too, but I liked the Texas Specials better so I put them back in. More of a natural Strat sound. Great clean or with a little dirt on them. They also Compliment the full size humbucker in the bridge better than the cruisers. I took out the Atomic Humbucker ( that was not a sound i wanted) and tonight and installed a Dimarzio Air Norton. I think I'm happy now. 8)

The '59 is kind of an old school pickup...Sounds a lot like the old P.A.F humbuckers; like you'd find in a late '50s Les Paul. I personally am not a big fan, but many others love them. It's all a matter of what sounds pleasing to your ear of course.

thanks, i metioned the 59' because i'm looking for a humbucker with a moderate output. i dont want a ultra high-hot sound. still want some bottom end to it, you know? do you know a himbucker that would fit this description?

The Seymour Duncan JB is a very popular pickup. They have nice midrange and smooth tone. They can also handle some fairly heavy music as well, although they are more suited for jazz, blues and rock.

for your application, the 59er will fit the bill over (my fav) the JB.
the 59 will do your classic rock stuff really well. the JB has serious bite to it.

I love Texas Specials, clean with the volume backed off and dirty on 10. Nice amount of midrange. I don't hear any hum on mine and I don't think you should since the middle pup is reverse wound. A lot of people say they sound best when set very low but mine are pretty high and sound great. You won't be dissapointed.
