what is the hottest sounding fender humbucker available for purchase? wanna swap the humbucker in my bridge position for it. thanks.

I don't know of any 'hot' fender humbuckers. If you're going to swap your humbucker, look into some duncan or dimarzio pups. Both companies offer some very nice sounding, high output humbuckers.

I don't remember what model it came on or if Fender even makes it anymore but I do remember some ad copy for a few Strats equipped with an "Atomic" humbucker in which the copy stated it was the hottest one Fender ever made.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

I've got the Atomic Humbucker in my American Special, and I'll tell ya what, It's nothing to get worked up about. I'm switching it out with a Dimarzio Air Norton. Atomic Humbucker= Flat, Muddy sound. It's about as hot as Whoppi Goldberg.

There is the Fender Diamondback humbucker. If memory serves me right this is the one they use (or used to use in their American Standards HSS and Deluxe HSS's).

But to be perfectly honest, if you want a hot humbucker I have to agree and say buy either Dimarzio or Seymore Duncan.

EMG's have active and passive humbuckers that are even hotter, but be careful about where you are planning to place your battery.

I played many Highway 1's and American Specials with those Atomic humbuckers and to be honest with you, I just bought the SSS versions. Left the American Special alone, it is fine just the way is is. However, I bought the Highway 1 with the intension of putting in a Dimarzio Super Distortion. To this day I do not regret that decision.
