My old CBS Leslie model 16 has a 2 button footswitch that's an on/off and 2 speed slow/fast control. The new Leslie/Suzuiki models have an optional footpedal that allows you to infinitely control speed from super slow to extremely fast.I was wondering if it would be possible to retrofit some variable speed control to my 2 speed unit or if it would be far too complicated and expensive a venture.Even if I could have a medium speed setting that would be an improvement.Any ideas?

Hi guitslinger ive no idea what voltage or type the motor is that spins the leslie "horn" and drivers but if you can find out it should be possible to knock up a variable speed controller to suit.

The simplest could be a triac like a light dimmer or maybe a kit by velleman or whats available in Canada. I built one to power a universal motor (washing m/c doner) a while back. Needs to suit the motor type of course.

Just a thought mate.

Thanks Al,my Leslie is the old tolex cabinet type with the stationary 12" speaker and slotted rotating drum, still your idea may work. The motor operates on 110V but not at all sure of the amperage or power rating.
