ok so i put an ad out on CL looking for a pedal repairman.
after weeding through every bozo within 100 miles from here
wanting to "meet up" and me hand the pedals over and we
"meet up" and get them back, (oh hell no) i was emailed by a guy right
up the street from me. he builds and mods as a hobby. so i went on over
to see what he was doing. man what a find this guy is. killer work at a very
affordable price. to affordable honestly. example, reworked my crybaby pedal
added a new switch, true bypass, and a boost when the pedal turns on, $25.00
the guy had 3 amps that he built, and also a 65ish reverb deluxe, and a bassman,
plus several other amps that we all know and would love to get our hands on.
taking my 1968 champ over on friday to see what we can do with it, followed by my
vintage morley PBW pedal. the guy is super cool, knows his tones, and priced
pretty cheap. he demo some of the pedals hes built as well. when the money here
gets right im gonna get him to do some building. so as im here at the house
glad all over myself, the guy i bought my kramer neck off of and my ESP body,
(some of you remember the posts) calls me to let me know he just bought a clapton sig strat and a marshall DSP 401 1x12 off a guy for $1,000. how did i miss that one?
i'll tell you how. im getting my damn crybaby pedal fixed when the ad posts up. :x :x :x
both of which are mint by the way. the guy bought them thinking he wanted to learn to play. took 2 lessons and put them in the closet for a few yrs. i love those kind.

well, over the last yr ive been building a pretty good network of people.
one of the main things i was worried about was finding a guy that does pedals
and amps. man you sure can blow a lot of money in this department. so i think
i might have found my guy here. i just got to be careful, i could very well work him night and day at this point lol. dont want to scare him off ya know.
my buddy above just sent me a email. he just got a plexi and a 4x12 for $1,300
nice but just not my bag. my friend runs a on line store. thats why hes buying up stuff.
i cant wait to hear the story behind this one. he gets pretty lucky on most of his buys.
another networking advantage. i tell him what i want and he goes and finds it lol.
sometimes he will get something with me in mind. if i say no its no big deal.
most of the time his stuff is as good as sold before he buys it.

so the champ made its way over to be gone through.
we found out that the transformer had already been replaced
by one of the better top of the line ones. the name escapes me.
all the caps are being replaced for $10 and we are looking into
better tubes as well. ive never seen so many tubes in one spot in my life lol.
the crybaby came out just fantastic too, and the price was dropped by $10
to boot. he was impressed with my champs tone even though he has one himself.
the on/off switch is being cleaned or replaced.
he cant wait to get inside to see what the differences are.
man its been 16 or so yrs since ive played with a crybaby lol. im stoked to say the least.
he builds tube screamer clones. i might put one on the list to get, just because they
sound pretty good and priced right. with all the $$$ hes saving me i feel its only right to buy one of his builds and enjoy it and its a good way to say thank you AND still save money to boot.
