I find that if you want to put more emotion into your playing, it's better to stand. I think it's easier to bend strings this way too.

I Play my strat standing almost always. Good practice for a possible show if I ever get good enough. I always sit in the living room and play my Yamaha Acoustic. When I do sit down with the strat it's like getting set free. So much easier.
